To English Speakers

(For Non-Native Japanese Speakers)

All courses hosted by WMAJ are conducted in Japanese.

Please review the Q&A below before registering.

Q. Can non-native Japanese speakers take the courses?

A. If Japanese is not your native language, you do not need to hold an official certification, but you should have a Japanese proficiency level equivalent to JLPT N1 or N2 to fully and accurately understand the course content.

(Reference)

N1 (Advanced): Ability to understand Japanese used in a wide variety of circumstances (high-level comprehension close to a native speaker).

N2 (Upper-Intermediate): Ability to understand Japanese used in everyday situations, as well as a variety of broader contexts (such as news broadcasts and business conversations) to a certain degree.

Q. Are course materials available in English?

A. Yes. You can choose either the Japanese or English version for your textbook and written exams. If you require both the Japanese and English sets of materials, an additional fee will apply. Please note that the online learning platform is available in Japanese only. For the instructor lecture videos, Japanese subtitles are displayed at the bottom of the screen.

Q. How can I take a course taught entirely in English?

A. WMAJ does not host any courses in English. However, English-language courses hosted by JOI (Japan Outdoor Institute) are official courses certified under the WMA curriculum. For more details, please visit the JOI website:
